This app is essentially a replacement for Tasker's Dismiss Keyguard function for Lollipop. When it runs, it will dismiss the keyguard, and only the keyguard. The screen probably needs to be on, and it will not disable any security - it's meant to be used with the new Smart Lock feature.
An example Tasker profile to enable app auto-update apps at 4 am:
Profile:
Time between 4am and 5am
Task:
Turn screen on (Secure Settings)
Open app Lollipop Keyguard Disable
Wait 2 sec (I've found that sometimes it doesn't work otherwise)
Open app activity Play Store Settings (long press in app selection)
AutoInput tap auto-update settings
AutoInput tap over wifi only
Exit task:
Copy and paste above, change last step to "do not auto-update"
Note: I have "home" as a "safe place" for Smart Lock, so my pattern is already turned off. I don't believe there's an API for that.
